Happy 90th Birthday Grandma!

Now, I call that a real accomplishment --not Grandma swinging at 89 (a year ago to the day) -- but making it to 90 years old, sharp as a tack, and still walking 3 miles a day. My grandma is quite the lady! I would be happy if at 90 years old, I could be just like her.

Grandma and yours truly -- the doted over first grandchild -- and red hair to boot.

Last May, we went to visit my family back in Indiana and Missouri. We had a great time, and the humidity wasn't too bad yet, thank-goodness as little Winona was making life difficult on me still. We went walking down the lane, through the corn field, and back into the woods looking for morels. We found a few morels, one half-decayed animal of some sort (yuck!), and only a couple of ticks. The morels made a great supper! If you have never been on a morel hunt, you have surely missed out on a spring-time ritual of great lore. "Remember the year we found sacks and sacks of morels in the back 40 ?......" and so the stories spin on from there.

Happy 90th Birthday Grandma! Hope you find many more morels this spring!

PS--even though Grandma is not hooked up to the internet--I am going to print off my blog and send it to her. Because of course Grandma lives and breathes to read the words that flow from my silver keyboard. Now, let me go find my hip waders.
