Faces of February

A few of my favorite faces of February...

One, two, three...
How many teeth do you see?

Fresh faced.... just in from the freezing cold.

And...last but not least.... the beautiful brown eyes that will soon be peering out from behind reading glasses.

Hopefully the glasses will relieve some of the strain from his eyes.

Maybe he and Daddy can share glasses?  ;)

Campfire

This weekend has been cold and blustery..... but last weekend was relatively nice.

The boys wanted to roast hotdogs for supper.... so they chopped up a dead branch that had fallen over the winter.

We bundled up.... and roasted the dogs...

...and spent some wonderful time together.

Look at those four..... makes my heart swell with pride....

my four reds..... growing up so fast.

How does this happen?

In two days, it will be 2 years since Walter was burned... hard to believe.

But all is good.....very good.

Fire pits still make me very nervous, but.... all is good.

We're looking forward to many more campfires this summer.

(if it ever decides to make an appearance)

This morning...

The neurotic dog and I went for a walk first thing this morning....

(really, she is neurotic.... she can't let any birds sit on the fence, and barks at the cows when they get close to the yard, and has a love/hate relationship with the UPS truck... and that is with anti-anxiety meds on board)

We are in for some nasty weather... single digits, wind, and more snow...

Honestly, I hope it snows a foot so that the poor plants that are beginning to think spring, will be protected from the cold.  I have tulips, daffodils, and roses starting to wake up.  A really frigid spell would set them back.

I suppose more cold and snow will mean more of this....

Good thing we like each other, or it would be a long winter.

A little get away...

We all got away for a few nights to the Coeur d' Alene Resort (thanks to Intervet).

(Isn't it nice of the drug companies to put on free CE and to foot the bill as well?)

We had a lovely view from our window...the weather wanted to be dramatic.... oh well.

In the late afternoon, I was able to take the kids out for a walk (with a little help!)

heaven knows that with so many little ones to watch, it is hard to do by myself.

(especially with so much open water to contend with)

I love this image...

We tried to go see some bald eagles, but I rather suspect the eagles wanted to stay snuggled up somewhere.

(boys. must. throw. rocks....... it is an unwritten law of maleness)

We found some ice and rocks instead.... 

...and cold drizzly snow.

Do you suppose that the aerial view is taken into consideration when designing a resort?

There is so much repetition of triangles at the CDA resort.... the geometry kept my eyes moving....trying to find connections.

A bouquet for Mom

...a little bouquet for my Mom....

Although I cannot be with her..... 

and she will not be able to see these for a few days, 

my heart is with her anyway.

Rest well, Mom.

Get your strength back so you can chase kindergartners again.

If you wouldn't mind sending up a prayer for my Mom... she is in the hospital with pneumonia.  

She is pretty weak and tired, but should be on the mend soon.

Dreaming.....

Today it's raining, pouring, deluging ..... but yesterday was nice... dare I say, springlike.

After church, we went to the park.... for a much needed respite from the fog of indoors.

The kids played and played and played...

so long in fact, that the crazy Mamarazzi had to trot back to the Big Black Burban and get out her camera.

Do you ever feel that way.... you just can't stand it any longer and have to give in to the camera's pull?

Instead of magical mirrors and electronic sensors, I really think my camera body is filled with magnets....

...magnets that pull me from a quarter of a mile away.... 

...I think I may have been a photojournalist in a previous life.... ;)

... or maybe just another crazy Mamarazzi...

This one makes me happy.... (but a little sad that her eyes are not as sharp as I wanted)

I don't think she stopped for more than two seconds together.

This made me laugh.... I tried to imagine myself running so fast that I would break the law... right!

I'm sure it was meant for cyclists...

All in all... a good day.

I ♥ Faces -- Best Faces

The theme this week at I ♥ Faces is the "Best Face of 2010".....

and although I have so very many beautiful faces from 2010.... this one has to be one of my favorites.

This is such a beautiful, haunting photo of Caitlin.

Caitlin is finishing up her last year of nursing school and will graduate in June.

We are very proud of her and all her hard work.

She will be an awesome nurse.
(and a beautiful one to boot)

but I'd be happy to know which one is your favorite of each kid, too.

(I really struggled editing photos of my own children...... it is so much harder for me to see the images objectively!)
